Loretta and Shauna - women to watch
One of the things I enjoy doing is sharing my kills and experiences of being a coach with emerging coaches, people who are just entering the arena.
I don't profess to be an 'expert' or a 'business coach' when it comes to launching a coaching career. I rather think I am happy to share what does seem to work and what mistakes I have made, in the hope you might avoid them.
In 2006, I started my journey to becoming a life coach, but at the time I was in a large corporate team, looking for competitive advantage. Hence I was despatched onto NLP Practitioner training. That was the start of it for me… although I'd coached people informally, whilst in other job roles. I had never been trained in any kind of coaching models. NLP was so interesting, things you could do, how you might influence a conversation or a buying strategy. In a corporate setting it was quite a challenging situation to find myself in, I wanted to use what I knew to help genuinely help people.
Fast forward to 2023, I've been in private practice since 2019, I call myself a coach, I run a coaching business, it pays my bills and a bit extra for treats. I am not a million pound best selling coach, with an online following of thousands - I am a wife, mum, grandma, friend who coaches.
I recently had the pleasure of meeting two lovely emerging coaches. We had a chat or two, over coffee, on zoom and in person. It was nice!
Shauna is going to be focusing on a very difficult time of life for anyone, grief and bereavement coaching. After hearing her reason why, and understanding where it comes from, I am hoping that she gets to launch her business 'So connected', its not at the launch stage yet, but watch out for another news update.
Loretta has launched and she can be found at https://loretta-davie.co.uk/ Whilst Loretta is new to coaching, she has a uniqueness about her life experiences that make her the 'go to' coach if you suddenly get asked to 'uproot your whole life, and move to another country for work' She did this several times, and she did one move in 2 weeks! I was amazed at what she knows about how to do this mammoth task, with a young family in tow too!
