Volunteering is good for you
I met Ricky over a year ago, he is an amazing guy who wanted to specialise in supporting people challenged by health issues, primarily Type 2 Diabetes, with their diet and nutrition. I understood his reasons why and thought - how can I HELP!
As he is in University at the moment, and he is looking to do some volunteering, I thought that introducing him to a Trustee of the Lilian Prime MS Centre here in Derby, might work out well. Last week we met and had a coffee with Ade Litherland. The conversation went so well, not sure I needed to be there to be honest, I did bring chocolate biscuits though, maybe that's all I needed to do, break the ice, use biscuits and let them chat about how Ricky's skills and passion for diet and nutrition could be woven into some planned training for people newly diagnosed with MS or other neurological conditions.
You might notice I put a lot of effort into things that don't build my business or make me money. I do these kind of things because I enjoy them, giving back is important to me.
I volunteer to take minutes at the LPMSC - just once a month, I also act as an advisor for another local organisation, Whispering Trees, also based in Derby.
You might be curious to know about these organisations so the links are here.https://lpmsc.org/ and https://www.whisperingtrees.org.uk/
